Assistant Management Accountant

Syntro Partners is working with a growing, PE-backed marketing services group to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant into its London finance team.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who has already built a solid foundation in finance and is now looking for a broader role with more responsibility, more exposure to month-end and management accounts, and genuine scope to develop.

Rather than being confined to one area of finance, you'll work across a busy multi-entity environment, gaining exposure to everything from sales ledger and credit control through to journals, balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts. You'll also be encouraged to look at how systems, technology and automation can improve the way the finance function operates.

The role

Working closely with the wider finance team, you'll take responsibility for a varied mix of transactional and management accounting activity, including:

• Raising sales invoices and managing credit control
• Preparing month-end journals and supporting the production of management accounts
• Supporting balance sheet reconciliations and other month-end processes
• Processing purchase invoices and supplier payments
• Reviewing payment runs before they are released
• Managing employee expenses
• Dealing directly with clients on billing and account queries
• Helping identify opportunities to improve systems, automate processes and reduce manual work

What we're looking for

• You'll ideally have around 2-4 years' experience within an industry finance team and be ready to take the next step in your career.
• You may currently be working as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant or Junior Management Accountant.
• AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA would be useful, but this isn't a role where qualifications or a perfectly matched CV are everything. The bigger priorities are attitude, aptitude and potential.

You'll need to be:

• Bright, curious and keen to understand the wider finance function
• Proactive and comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting to be given every next step
• Confident communicating with colleagues and external clients
• Comfortable with Excel and finance systems
• Tech-savvy, with an interest in how automation and better tools can improve finance processes
• Organised and accurate enough to handle a genuinely varied workload

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience

Working pattern: 4 days per week in the office, 1 day remote
