Accountant

Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a flexible, project-based assignment? We are supporting a well-established business in Wellingborough that requires additional support within the finance function to assist with a number of important compliance, audit and process improvement projects.
Reporting to the Finance Director, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accountant, whether professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), AAT qualified or QBE. The successful candidate will enjoy investigating and resolving discrepancies, reconciling accounts, bringing records up to date and ensuring financial accuracy.

Temporary Finance Project Accountant (Part Time)
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for supporting a range of finance-related projects, including:

• Reconciling retention payments, identifying amounts paid and outstanding
• Assisting with a VAT-focused project, reviewing records and supporting compliance activities
• Supporting a GDPR project, ensuring finance records and processes align with requirements
• Assisting with risk assessment reviews and documentation
• Supporting with audit project, gathering information and reconciling financial data
• Producing accurate reports and findings for senior management
• Working closely with the Finance Director to deliver project objectives within agreed timescales

About You
We would be pleased to hear from candidates who have:

• Previous experience within a finance, accounting or audit-related role
• AAT qualification, professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent), or strong finance experience gained through practice (QBE)
• Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Good Excel skills
• The ability to work independently and manage project-based workloads
• Experience supporting compliance, audit, VAT or process improvement projects would be beneficial

The Opportunity

• Temporary assignment for approximately 4-8 weeks
• Flexible part-time hours, between 1 and 3 days per week (within office hours Monday-Friday)
• Reporting directly to the Finance Director
• Opportunity to make an immediate impact on several business-critical projects
