£26,000 - £27,500 (FTE)

Due to continued growth, a well-established accounting firm is looking for an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to join its St Ives team. You will be responsible for managing the bookkeeping needs of a portfolio of clients, including processing sales and purchase invoices, completing bank reconciliations and preparing VAT returns. The role also offers regular client contact and the opportunity to work closely with the accounts team, making this a varied position for someone who enjoys both technical bookkeeping and client interaction.

Role Responsibilities

• Manage the bookkeeping requirements of a portfolio of external clients.
• Post and process sales and purchase invoices.
• Complete bank reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Respond to ad hoc client queries via email, telephone and face-to-face.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a range of clients.
• Work closely with the accounts team to ensure accurate reporting.
• Manage workload effectively and meet client deadlines.

Personal Requirements

• Previous bookkeeping experience is essential.
• Practice experience is preferred.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients would be advantageous.
• Experience using Xero is required.
• Experience using Sage is desirable, although training will be provided.
• Good understanding of bookkeeping processes, including VAT and bank reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confident dealing directly with clients.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Able to work effectively both independently and as part of an accounts team.
