Due to continued Growth, a well-established accounting firm is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its St Ives team on a full-time basis. The role will involve managing the day-to-day bookkeeping requirements of a portfolio of clients, including processing invoices, completing bank reconciliations and preparing VAT returns. You will also have regular client contact and work closely with the wider accounts team to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Role Responsibilities

• Manage the bookkeeping requirements of a portfolio of external clients.
• Post and process sales and purchase invoices.
• Complete regular bank reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Respond to ad hoc client queries via email, telephone and face-to-face.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records.
• Work closely with the accounts team to support accurate reporting.
• Manage bookkeeping tasks across a varied client portfolio and meet relevant deadlines.

Personal Requirements

• Previous bookkeeping experience is essential.
• Practice experience is preferred.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients would be advantageous.
• Previous experience using Xero is required.
• Experience using Sage is desirable, although training will be provided.
• Good understanding of bookkeeping processes, including VAT and reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confident communicating with clients by telephone, email and face-to-face.
• Able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider accounts team.
