Trainee Accountant

Based in South Lanarkshire, our client is looking to recruit a Trainee Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or finance professional with an HNC/HND qualification to join a supportive finance team where you will gain exposure to all aspects of accounting whilst working towards a professional qualification. This role offers an excellent platform to develop your skills across financial accounting, management accounting, costing, inventory management, budgeting and financial reporting within a fast-paced commercial environment. This is an office-based role and the hours of work are Monday to Thursday: 08:45-16:45 Friday: 08:45-16:00. The offices can be accessed by public transport and there is also on-site parking.

Your New Role

As a Trainee Accountant, you will support the wider finance team with a range of accounting and reporting activities, including:

• Assisting with day-to-day accounting transactions and maintaining accurate financial records
• Processing supplier invoices, payments and customer receipts
• Supporting bank reconciliations and month-end accounting activities
• Assisting with the monitoring and analysis of production and manufacturing costs
• Preparing product costings and inventory valuation reports
• Participating in stock counts and inventory reconciliations
• Supporting the production of management accounts and financial reporting
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and audit processes
• Ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Collaborating with colleagues across multiple departments

What You'll Need to Succeed

• HNC, HND or Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
• A proactive attitude and genuine desire to develop a long-term career within finance
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills would be advantageous
