Description:	Financial Controller Sutton Coldfield Up to £70,000 Office Based A Key Leadership Role Within a Growing Commercial Business We're partnering with a successful and expanding business operating within a fast-moving international trading and distribution environment to recruit an experienced Financial Controller. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll take ownership of the finance function, providing strategic financial leadership, robust financial controls and commercial insight to support continued growth and business performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams, influencing business decisions and making a genuine impact within an ambitious SME. The Role As Financial Controller, you'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of finance while supporting the wider leadership team with accurate reporting and commercial analysis. Key responsibilities include: Producing monthly and quarterly management accounts Delivering insightful financial analysis and performance reporting Leading budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning Preparing sales, margin and KPI reporting Presenting financial information and recommendations to senior stakeholders Managing month-end and year-end processes Ensuring VAT, statutory and regulatory reporting requirements are met Maintaining robust financial controls and governance procedures Supporting treasury activities, including financial hedging where applicable Managing relationships with external auditors and advisors Overseeing payroll processes Leading and developing the finance team Supporting AML and compliance activities in line with business requirements Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and reporting capabilities Ensuring the business remains compliant with regulatory and statutory obligations The Environment This is a business that values collaboration, accountability and teamwork. About You You'll be an experienced finance professional with a strong commercial mindset and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. Essential Experience Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience Proven budgeting, forecasting and business partnering experience Experience within an SME environment Knowledge of UK accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements Experience preparing VAT returns and supporting year-end processes Previous experience managing and developing finance staff Strong Excel and systems skills Experience using Sage or similar accounting software Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities Understanding of AML and compliance requirements Qualifications ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or Qualified by Experience (QBE) Desirable Experience Previous exposure to AML or MLRO responsibilities Treasury management or financial hedging experience Experience within a trading, distribution, wholesale or import/export environment Corporation Tax knowledge Audit management experience A track record of improving finance processes and controls Personal Attributes Commercially minded with strong business awareness Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels A proactive and solutions-focused approach Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and support a team Professional, trustworthy and highly confidential What's on Offer?
