Accounts Assistant

Salary: 28,000 Permanent Full-time Fully Office-Based Near Ripley, Derbyshire

Are you an organised and proactive Accounts Assistant looking for your next opportunity within a friendly, supportive finance team? Astute Recruitment is working with an established business based near Ripley to recruit a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support its day-to-day finance operations. This is a varied, hands-on role offering the opportunity to take responsibility for key sales ledger activities, assist with purchase ledger processing and support the wider finance function.

The Role:

Sales Ledger & Credit Control

• Processing sales invoices and credit notes accurately and efficiently.
• Posting and allocating customer payments and cash receipts.
• Monitoring customer accounts and managing credit limits.
• Chasing overdue payments and helping to maintain healthy cash flow.
• Building effective relationships with customers and handling account queries.
• Taking and processing customer payments.

Purchase Ledger

• Supporting the processing of supplier invoices and credit notes.
• Assisting with purchase ledger administration as required.

General Accounts & Administration

• Maintaining accurate financial records and updating accounting systems.
• Providing general administrative support to the finance team.
• Assisting with ad hoc duties to support the smooth running of the department.

About You:

We're looking for someone who is organised, dependable and confident working with financial information. You'll have a proactive approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your workload effectively.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Previous experience in an accounts or finance administration role.
• An understanding of sales ledger, purchase ledger and credit control processes.
• Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication skills and a professional approach to customer and supplier queries.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team.
