Your new company

An established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice in Sheffield is looking to strengthen its tax offering with the appointment of a Tax Advisor / Senior Tax Advisor. The firm has around 25 people across Tax, Accounts, Audit and Payroll and has built a strong client base across a variety of sectors, with particular expertise working with charities, not-for-profit organisations and academies.

Your new roleThis is a particularly interesting opportunity as the firm is open on level and background. They would ideally like someone with existing tax advisory experience, but would equally consider a strong tax compliance professional who is keen to develop their advisory capabilities.You will work closely with the senior tax lead, supporting a varied portfolio of clients and gradually taking on greater responsibility for client relationships and advisory work.Depending on your experience, your work could include:

• Inheritance Tax planning
• Profit extraction
• Wider owner-managed business and personal tax advisory work
• Managing and developing client relationships
• Supporting clients with both commercial and technical tax matters
• Working alongside the wider Accounts and Audit teams

For somebody ambitious, there is a genuine longer-term succession opportunity within the tax function.

What you'll need to succeed

The firm is flexible on qualifications and will consider candidates based on their experience and potential.You could already be working within tax advisory, or you may have developed a strong grounding in compliance and now want an opportunity to broaden your technical and advisory exposure.Most importantly, they are looking for someone who:

• Has strong tax knowledge and technical ability
• Is commercially minded and interested in understanding the wider needs of clients
• Is confident communicating directly with clients
• Can build strong, long-term relationships
• Wants to become an integral part of a smaller, collaborative team
• Is keen to develop and take on additional responsibility over time
