Description: Scottish Shellfish is the UK's premier producer of finest quality shellfish; supplying supermarkets, wholesalers and restaurants with mussels and oysters farmed in the pristine seas and sheltered sea lochs of the West coast of Scotland and the Shetland Isles. We produce live and cooked shellfish products for the UK retail and wholesale sectors from our two sites, the main one located in Bellshill, and a smaller live mussel factory located in Shetland, which we acquired in 2016. Our annual turnover is c. £26M and we employ around 180 people across the two sites. Due to a vacancy arising within the department, we are aiming to recruit a Management Accountant. The successful candidate will be a part- or recently-qualified accountant, with recent experience working in an FMCG environment, preferably within a Food organisation, and with some supervision experience. The ideal candidate will be looking to develop their skills and experience further, and continue to grow along with the business. The Role Working alongside the Financial Controller and a Trainee Accountant, the role is responsible for reporting all aspects of the business’ sales, operational costs and standard and actual margins, through production of weekly and monthly Management Accounts for our two sites, as well as daily and weekly operational variances. Also, providing support to the Finance Director in the provision of Budgets, Rolling Financial Forecasts and Year End. You will be also required to delegate tasks where necessary. Essential Attributes Similar role in FMCG environment, with at least 2 years’ experience. Part Qualified or recently qualified Accountancy qualification. Experience of producing factory variances; e.g. material usage and labour. Desired Experience Experience of working in fresh food manufacturing. Supervisory experience. Presentation of reports to senior managers. A working knowledge of EDI & ERP systems and processes is ideal, but not essential. Benefits Salary of £35k - £40k dependent on experience and qualifications. Company pension provided, with 3% employer contribution. Death in Service benefit (2x annual salary). The successful candidate will be able to work well in a team and be able to motivate other staff and improve overall efficiency within the department. He or she will have strong management accounting experience, backed up with a good understanding of operational variances and, ideally, a track record of process improvement. You will be a great communicator with problem-solving skills and management and delegation skills desirable for the role. You will also maintain good working relationships across disciplinary boundaries.
