The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects the financial transactional processing, financial control, management accounting and reporting of financial information for the RPM Technik and Kallenhard businesses.

The Financial Controller will report to the Commercial Director and will be expected to provide general operational support to the Directors on an ad-hoc basis.

Core responsibilities:

  • Controlling Accounts Payable and payment of supplier invoices for RPM Technik and Kallenhard
  • Updating Sales Ledger and raising invoices
  • Preparation of Trial Balance and maintenance of the General Ledger
  • Management accounts preparation
  • Monthly preparation of key balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for the Directors
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
  • Cashflow management and cashflow forecasting
  • Management of end of year financial process
  • Data entry into SAGE 50 (bank / purchase ledger)
  • Assisting the directors in the operational management of the business, from time-to-time
  • Credit card management
  • Initial review and optimization of SAGE nominal code structure


  • Knowledge of VAT treatment and compliance routines
  • Understanding of the core functions of finance: transactions processing, control and management information and reporting.

Experience and qualifications required:

  • 3-5 years accounting experience within the private sector
  • Hands-on experience of day-to-day financial management, to include:
  1. bank account management
  2. general ledger management
  3. purchase ledger management
  4. month-end close process
  5. maintaining key reconciliations
  • Managing VAT and Corporation Tax compliance
  • Experience of SAGE Line 50
  • Experience of Dragon DMS is an advantage
  • Recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA or ACCA)
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent

Additional responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinating with external accountants regarding R&D Tax claims and any other matters on an ad-hoc basis

Hours of work:

  • 15-20 hours per week (to be agreed/spread across all 5 week days)
  • Salary £45,000-£55,000.00 pro rata
